Planting Wisdom is a blog dedicated to planting seeds of wisdom through enlightened writings, quotes, photos and mindfulness techniques to assist in growing the collective consciousness. These seeds will open new vistas to a world where happiness is the norm, and an openness to whatever comes our way, be it good or bad, is met with grace, full acceptance and appreciation for the lessons therein.

A new time is dawning and a widespread curiosity has been piqued; wisdom traditions are arising from the ashes like a phoenix; awakening us once more.

We have technology beyond our wildest dreams, and “everything has been figured out except how to live.” This is the purpose of Planting Wisdom and the right of all sentient being.

Your path to enlightenment begins with a simple task, consciously observe your breath for a few minutes each day – In, and out; in, and out – this is enough to begin raising your consciousness.

A Story for Tomorrow: A Cinematic Meditation on the Human Condition

It is extremely rare when the cinematography and writing of a film are equally exquisite, converging in a poignant meditation on the secrets of happiness and what it means to be human. That’s exactly what creative duo Dan Riordan and Dana Saint, better known as gnarly bay productions, accomplish in a story for tomorrow — the most breathtaking, heart-stirring film I’ve seen since Radiolab’s Symmetry.

Watch with headphones, watch until the end, and watch with your whole heart.

“I asked the leaf whether it was scared becasue it was autumn and the other leaves were falling. The leaf told me, “No. During the whole spring and summer I was very alive. I worked hard and helped nourish the tree, and much of me is in the tree. Please do not say that I am just this form, because this leaf form is only a tiny part of me. I am the whole tree. I know that I am already inside the tree, and when I go back to the soil, I will continue to nourish the tree. As I leave this branch and float to the ground, I will wave to the tree and tell her, ‘I will see you again very soon.’” —Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of Understanding

Changing Education Paradigms

“We have a system of education that is modeled on the interest of industrialism and in the image of it. School are still pretty much organized on factory lines — ringing bells, separate facilities, specialized into separate subjects. We still educate children by batches. Why do we do that?”

The ElementSir Ken Robinson on How Finding Your Element Changes Everything

“It’s not enough to be good at something to be in your element… We’re being brought up with this idea that life is linear. This is an idea that’s perpetuated when you come to write your CV — that you set out your life in a series of dates and achievements, in a linear way, as if your whole existence has progressed in an ordered, structured way, to bring you to this current interview.”
